3 Tools I Use Daily, as a Mindfulness Coach and Entrepreneur

If I didn't have a set of guidelines I have no idea how I'd get through the day. There are SO many things to create, action, amend, post, share and do!

These are my favourite tools that I use every single day. They save me from being buried under my work.

1) When I feel able to work, I do.

There are times when I really just can’t work. Or do anything, come to that. So when this happens I want to be able to have the freedom to lean into it and honour my body and mind. And it’s so much easier to take the time out to rest when I do need it, if I’m not loaded with urgent and firefighting stuff all the time. Of course there will be unexpected things that land on your desk, but forward planning and consistency help to create the conditions for being able to take some time out when I really need it.

2) “If it takes less than a minute, do it now.”

I can't remember who taught me this, but it's literally saved so much of my time. Adding tiny things to my to-do list, reading them, then re-reading them 5 times before I actually get round to doing it. The mental space and energy it takes up is huge! Honestly, it’s exhausting. If it takes a moment to do it, I just get it done there and then.

3) Intentionally practice creating space in the mind.

Training the mind has been life changing for me. Thoughts are no longer in charge of me. I can create space and ground myself whenever I notice them getting out of hand and overwhelming.

I do this through meditation, but you can also do this while on a solo walk or doing body work like yoga or Qigong

Spend some time to find what works for you to cultivate this skill, because it will change your life for the better. If I’m constantly bombarded by stressful thoughts I can’t do or be anything else. It takes over and prevents me from moving forward with anything: having fun, enjoying dinner with my husband, working, connecting with friends…

Life can be tough, but if you know how to create space in the mind it is a total game changer.
